Friday Favorites: Ball Activity Tray

Each Friday I want to talk about something that I absolutely loved this week. I want to highlight something material, delicious, or an experience or activity that brought me or my family joy. My Friday Favorites are things that enrich my life and make my life easier, exciting, or generally happy. This week’s Friday Favorites is the Ball Activity Tray.

This week I want to highlight one of the DIY activities I set up for Danny. I’m always trying to do something new with Danny that is easy for me and stimulating for him. A lot of times I find that I have all the right materials for learning, engagement, and play but I don’t always know how to put it all together.

I got this idea from one of the people I follow on Instagram. It is simply a muffin tray with different sizes and shapes of balls in each of the cups. I made sure I washed the muffin tray first since it had crumbs and grease on it. You know that the first thing he did was try and get the whole tray in his mouth. This was entertaining though because when he lifted it he scattered some of the balls around and was enamored by the way they moved.

Danny has a lot of fun with this activity. Sometimes he plays on his tummy or while he is sitting. He can spin the balls in their cups or choose one to pick up and play with. I like watching him choose which one he likes the best and watching him see what happens when they roll around. He LOVES these silicone Infantino balls and blocks already so shaking up the play time with them was a huge hit. I can’t wait to add his Grimm’s Giant Marbles to the tray from his Easter basket!

The simplest activity with items I already have on hand brought us so much play and joy this week. Do you have any fun DIY play you do with your baby?
