All things motherhood, momming, parenting, and children.
There have been so many things I feel cheated about this year. The ultimate cheat lies in the experiences of my year at home with Daniel. We no sooner started going to story time at the library, going to music classes, and sitting up in high chairs at restaurants when the world came to a grinding halt. We have made the best of it and we’re healthy and that is all that truly matters anyway. Recently, my parents invested in a big and beautiful new camper so we are going to load up memories by taking our baby camping! Sounds intimidating but camping with a baby is easier than you think! Daniel is a boob baby. In fact, he is exclusively breastfed. I didn’t think in a million years that this would be a thing that I not only do, but do well. It’s both a sacrifice and the ultimate gift. In the beginning, I set an expiration at 6 months but here we are at 7 months and the thought of him no longer needing me this way makes me want to cry. There have been quite a number of things that really helped with the success of our breastfeeding journey. Even with a baby who is exclusively breastfed there are some breastfeeding basics you don’t want to miss. I have always had a thing for bags. It is my favorite kind of accessory. I’m not talking designer bags either. My favorite purse is from Target and I’ve been known to be quite fond of reusable bags too (I come from a long line of bag ladies). When I was pregnant I spent a great deal of time researching diaper bags because I wanted the perfect one. It had to be cute, durable, my style, and also dad-friendly. I ended up finding the perfect diaper bag and couldn’t wait to pack it full of diaper bag essentials. I have a love-hate relationship with things. Do you know what kind of things I am talking about? Things that lay around appearing to be clutter. Certain things that don’t have a designated home or don’t even have utility in the home in which they reside. Do these things sound familiar? When I was pregnant I had a lot of anxiety about things. All things, really, as most pregnant women do. But the sheer amount of things a baby requires? Anxiety. In recent days, Danny has been acquiring even MORE things which has necessitated some crafty playroom organization and inspiration on my part. Teething is NO fun. It is unpredictable, uncomfortable, and involves a lot of chewing and drooling. Daniel has not cut any teeth yet and we are 7 months into this baby thing. He may not have teeth yet but he sure is chewing and drooling as if they are imminent. We are in a perpetual state of bib replacement and teething remedies. I put together a quick list of the best baby teething toys we have around and Danny’s favorite things to chew on. Quarantine organization part 80. I have slowly but surely been working my way through tidying small areas of my house. There’s not many big projects I need to tackle but I have been organizing and purging our spaces. Spring cleaning always makes the house breathe better in my opinion and nursery closet organization is no exception. I love the products I recommend and hope you do too! For more information, please read my full disclosure policy. Today I tackled Danny’s closet. Babies have so much stuff! Especially a baby whose family loves him so much and is always gifting him so many things! It’s crazy how quickly a nursery can get out of control…
On the unknown number of days quarantined you will find me cleaning out our bathroom. I’m organizing soaps, loofas, toothbrushes, shaving cream, cleaning products, postpartum essentials, and whatever else lurks beneath bathroom sinks. We have a LOT of sunscreen under there! I love the products I recommend and hope you do too! For more information, please read my full disclosure policy. In my organizing and purging venture I have stumbled upon some of the items from my postpartum kit. I have a skinny canvas tote on the back of the toilet to keep some monthly essentials in and noticed some random leftovers from postpartum. The thing about these leftover items is that they’re unopened and…
One of the things I do regularly is tidy and organize our spaces. Cleaning and organizing is one of the ways I cope with anxiety. I like knowing that if I need something it is readily available and in a predictable, consistent location. Today, it was the tidying up Danny’s changing table organization & essentials. I love the products I recommend and hope you do too! For more information, please read my full disclosure policy. The changing table is a critical component of Danny’s nursery. Babies go through a lot of diapers and require special care for their sensitive areas. Thanks to one-level living we utilize our changing station for diaper swaps exclusively. …
When preparing to have my son, I researched as much as I possibly could about every baby product and brand available. I also tapped into my baby gear knowledge leftover from my years working as an associate at Babies R Us. My baby registry was massive. We were incredibly fortunate enough to have received so many excellent items. Items that have either been necessary to our survival or just down right genius to have around. I carefully curated everything I thought we would want and need for our new little without going outrageously overboard. And yet I still had enough for a top 5 baby registry should-haves list. I have recently been going through some of Daniel’s things and organizing our spaces. He is getting bigger and bigger every day! As he is changing so much even by the hour, I find myself needing to adapt our materials and our spaces to better suit our needs. Today, I decided to start with the bathroom and all of our tubby time supplies and baby bath organization. Amidst all the nesting I did when preparing for Danny’s arrival, I found myself creating and organizing a variety of baskets. I had so many baskets. I had…
