Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

While I was waiting for my new bread baking supplies to arrive I had an itch to bake something sweet. I could have easily thrown together my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe (aka the one I’ve had memorized off the back of the bag since childhood). What fun would that be? So, I give you: brown butter chocolate chip cookies. Just to let you know, I earn a modest commission off of purchases made through Amazon affiliate links on this page. Don’t worry, it is of no extra cost to you. I love the products I recommend and hope you do too! For more information, please read my full disclosure policy. I’ve never browned butter before these cookies. Okay, I’ve never browned butter on purpose, only burned it when I walked away from the stove to multitask. If you’re not sure how to…

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Throughout this whole quarantine thing I have decided to bust out some more yeast and try my hand at a lot more yeast based recipes. Recently I made these homemade cinnamon rolls and oh my wow. My cousin sent me a funny baking in quarantine bingo card on Instagram and in my mind I said: challenge accepted. Just to let you know, I earn a modest commission off of purchases made through Amazon affiliate links on this page. Don’t worry, it is of no extra cost to you. I love the products I recommend and hope you do too! For more information, please read my full disclosure policy. I’m not stranger to a homemade cinnamon roll. Admittedly, I haven’t made cinnamon rolls from scratch since home ec class in 7th grade. I fondly remember making them in class and recreating them again at my friend Britney…

Camping With A Baby

There have been so many things I feel cheated about this year. The ultimate cheat lies in the experiences of my year at home with Daniel. We no sooner started going to story time at the library, going to music classes, and sitting up in high chairs at restaurants when the world came to a grinding halt. We have made the best of it and we’re healthy and that is all that truly matters anyway. Recently, my parents invested in a big and beautiful new camper so we are going to load up memories by taking our baby camping! Sounds intimidating but camping with a baby is easier than you think! Cinnamon Roll Babka

It may be in the 90s here for the foreseeable forecast with heat indexes well into the 100s but, it is that time of year folks. If you look carefully you’ll find pumpkin spice coffee creamer and Oktoberfest beers cropping up in the local stores. I’m ready now, but I won’t get too far ahead of myself. I recently made these amazing cinnamon rolls and this really great blueberry cream cheese babka that was a huge hit with my family. I’m feeling adventurous and semi-autumnal so I decided to try my hand at combining the two. I give you: Cinnamon Roll Babka. Happy Summer!

Hello again friends! Happy Summer! It’s been a few months since I’ve written any blog posts. Actually, that’s untrue. It’s been a few months since I have published any blog posts. I have quite a few irons in the fire in that regard but I’m not going to lie, I have been tired. Just to let you know, I earn a modest commission off of purchases made through Amazon affiliate links on this page. Don’t worry, it is of no extra cost to you. I love the products I recommend and hope you do too! For more information, please read my full disclosure policy. I’m tired in every sense of the word. Having a near 10.5 month old is tiring despite the fact that he blesses us with 10-12 hour nights worth of sleep. I’m tired of feeling…

Pound Cake for Strawberry Shortcake

Earlier this week we got out of the house and went strawberry picking. It was a beautiful day full of sunshine and bright red sticky strawberries. This experience was hands down my favorite activity we did this week. Naturally, I knew I had to do something with this huge bucket of strawberries we picked. I have been on a pretty big baking kick so I decided to experiment with a pound cake recipe for strawberry shortcake. Just to let you know, I earn a modest commission off of purchases made through Amazon affiliate links on this page. Don’t worry, it is of no extra cost to you. I love the products I recommend and hope you do too! For more information, please read my full disclosure policy. To me, there is not JUST a recipe for pound cake. Traditional pound cake to me is exclusively associated with sweet…

Peanut Butter Pie

When I was pregnant I experienced the biggest sweet tooth I have ever had in my life. I prefer salty and savory over sweet most days but when I was pregnant all bets were off. If it was sweet I wanted it. Pretty sure I ate a whole watermelon by myself one week (it was the dead of summer and I was 7 months pregnant what can a girl do?). Once I had to reign in my sugar, however, I resorted to small sweets like peanut butter. I would combine some peanut butter with a little whipped cream for a pseudo peanut butter mousse. After I had Danny, this led to the creation of my Peanut Butter Pie. Just to let you know, I earn a modest commission off of purchases made through Amazon affiliate links on this page. Homemade Pasta Salad

Can you feel it? The weather is getting warmer, the tree pollen is subsiding (at least in North Carolina). You can almost smell the grill out back and feel the sun on your cold, pale skin (it’s me, I’m the pale one). I associate warm weather with good food cooked out on our grill. Dave is a grill master and cooks up the best chicken, burgers, and brats anywhere. For no particular reason, I don’t do the grilling (bugs, humidity, intimidation..). I am, however, the side dish queen and nothing goes better with grilled goods than a chilled homemade pasta salad. Friday Favorites: Strawberry Picking

Each Friday I want to talk about something that I absolutely loved this week. I want to highlight something material, delicious, or an experience or activity that brought me or my family joy. My Friday Favorites are things that enrich my life and make my life easier, exciting, or generally happy. This week’s Friday Favorites highlights my first experience strawberry picking! I can’t even believe today is May 1st. I think this marks the most unremarkable and least memorable April of…

Blueberry Cream Cheese Babka

Have you ever seen something while mindlessly scrolling through your Pinterest feed that catches your eye? You click it to look closer and eventually follow it to a website with stunning pictures. I have never made Babka before but I’m not intimidated by yeast goods so I figured I could tackle something like this. The last time I was at the grocery store I stocked up on yeast packets because they were really hard to find (that and bread…
