Baby’s First Easter

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like Easter really snuck up on me this year. I think that being home for so long contributed to forgetting about it so easily. Usually I’m reminded by the colorful eggs and candies in the grocery store. Dave even said to me “I haven’t had any Cadbury eggs yet and Easter is on Sunday.” I felt bad because our decor is sparse and celebrating feels a little off this year. I can’t even believe it’s my baby’s first Easter!

Regardless, we’re still planning on a delicious Easter dinner and I was proactive in building an Easter basket for Danny. If there is one thing I am good at it is remembering to make holidays special for our now family of three.

My mom has always been the best at holidays. We have so many memories and some of the best ones are of the holidays. We’re all in our mid to late 20s now (holding on to 29 as long as I can) and she still makes sure we get a little something special. One year she put bacon in my Easter basket, something only an adult child would appreciate. It is so important to me to build those memories with Danny and to make the holidays special and memorable.

I’m looking forward to Danny’s first “eggs over the eyes” picture when we color eggs this year. It has been a few years since we colored eggs but since we have a baby to celebrate we’re making sure we do it. Plus, who doesn’t love the subsequent tray of deviled eggs that result?

It was January 2019 when I found out I was pregnant with Danny. This meant that I was poised to pick up as much clearance goodies as I could for all of the upcoming holidays. We have props for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and so on. I picked up Danny’s Easter basket last year at Target. It is a typical Easter basket but I love the sweet pastel pattern and generous size. I also got a couple bags of plastic eggs which I am sure glad I did since I did not get out this year to do any shopping.

Baby’s First Easter Basket

I may not have gotten out to pick up any Easter decor or anything frivolous (excess candy anyone?) but I did get a lot of great things for Danny’s Easter basket online. Here is a list of everything I got for his basket:

Danny is really into touch and feel books right now so this was a no-brainer. This book is really beautiful with vibrant and fun touch points throughout.

Every Easter basket needs a bunny! I have an obsession with Jellycat but I didn’t want to add another big stuffed animal to our already growing collection. Danny loves his Moose, Raccoon, Fox, and Owl so I know he will like the little bunny too!

There is just something so appealing about wooden toys to me. Maybe it was my fascination with Lincoln Logs as a kid. I have gotten really into finding wooden toys for Daniel and Grimm’s is the cream of the crop. I love that all their products are stained and safe for mouthing. He has a couple pieces of Grimm’s and I’m excited to expand his collection!

Danny loves his existing wood toys as well as his varying shapes of balls. So when I saw these Grimm’s Giant Marbles I knew he had to have them. I can’t wait for him to play with them in his Ball Activity Tray!

  • Grapat Rings

In addition to balls, Danny also really likes rings. He has varying shapes and sizes but no wooden rings. I really like the Grapat rings because like Grimm’s they’re safe for mouthing.

These were too cute to pass up! We don’t have very many bath toys and I figure these will be a lot fun since tubby time is in the big tub. The eggs are vibrant, well made, and the characters are super cute. I think I might be more excited to play with them!

  • Grimm’s Small Beads

The Grapat Rings and the Grimm’s small beads are from a cute website called the Wooden Wagon. They sell so many great brands of wooden toys. I was looking for the rings and decided to add beads to my cart too. They will be fun to string up and play with now. When Danny gets bigger he can practice threading too!

Since Danny is more interested in books I decided to get him this adorable first photo album. Before quarantine, we had so many plans to see family and friends in New York. Obviously those plans have been postponed for the foreseeable future but at least we can look at pictures together!

The Jellycat bunny friend needed a treat too! Danny puts everything in his mouth and he has every teether known to man. He clearly needed this carrot teether for his collection.

So, obviously some of these things are quite small. I never let Danny play with anything unsafe or unsupervised. I pre-threaded the beads and rings so that he could enjoy and mouth them safely. The finger puppets are not tiny but I still monitor him when he mouths them, which is fine because he is never alone in the tub anyway.

Happy Easter

We are all very excited to celebrate Danny’s first Easter. In this trying time it is important to be around the family that you can. I hope that the holiday weekend is bright and enjoyable for all.

So many cute ideas for your baby’s first Easter, it is hard when they are little, candy it just not really a thing yet.

It’s funny, I didn’t give a single thought to candy, even for myself. I did manage to get the Cadbury eggs for my husband though!

I honestly needed this article. My son is 6 months, and I’ve been frazzled about what to do for him since he won’t nessicarily remember but it’s still nice to start that tradition. Thank you!

Yes! My guy is going to be 7 months in just a couple days, I can’t believe it! If nothing else, I think at this age they will like anything they can chew on!

Last year was my baby’s first Easter. We painted some eggs at home, but she was still a baby and didn’t realize what was happening. This year is pretty different. So sweet 🙂

We colored eggs today! He really had no clue what was going on but he liked holding the eggs!

Aww these are such great ideas! My baby was born 4 weeks ago so he’s not into much yet, but I love all of these ideas. My daughter used to love touch and feel books. I need to get him some 🙂

The touch and feel books are awesome! I just did a whole post about his FAVORITE touch and feel books, the Never Touch A books, highly recommend!
